The 2023 CACE conference featured the Bridge Building undertaken by Black populations worldwide. Traditional papers, roundtables, and other creative formats highlight and interrogate the ways in which Black peoples throughout the world are joiners, builders, visualizers, educators, activists, planners, and leaders who create, connect, and transform the arts, architecture, environment, healthcare, humanities, literature, social movements and the communities in which we live. As part of this conference, we acknowledge the creative and scholarly legacy of N. Frank Woods, Jr., Emeritus AADS faculty.

About CACE:
Our annual conference, established in 1989 with the first conference taking place in 1990, brings speakers from other institutions nationally, and prizes participation by our undergraduates in the AADS major, who often go on to careers in leadership and advocacy. CACE 2021, our first virtual conference, brought 440 participants from across the nation, with strong representation from the Triad area (including NC A & T and Guilford College) and participation from advocacy groups such as Greensboro Black Child Development, the Center for New North Carolinians, and the Cottage Gardens Tutoring Program, among other local institutions. Students, faculty and staff from across our campus, as well as regional and national partners, participate in a program that is truly interdisciplinary and community minded.
