The African American and Culture Division of the National Communication Association names Dr. Cerise L. Glenn, AADS Program Director, Outstanding Book Chapter Award Recipient.
The Carnegie Foundation has named Dr. Omar H. Ali North Carolina Professor of the year. Ali is a Professor of Comparative African Diaspora History in the African American & African Diaspora Studies Program and is the Dean of Lloyd International Honors College.
The African American & African Diaspora Studies program, the UNCG School of Dance, and University Libraries received a community-engaged grant: Comanche: Hero Complexities. This multidisciplinary community engaged event series gives voice to Caribbean and African diasporic legacies and contributes to the diverse perspectives that are part of American culture.
