Alecia Richardson: 2021-2022 Whitney “Whitty” Ransome Scholarship Recipient

Alecia Richardson is the 2021 – 2022 recipient of the AADS Whitney “Whitty” Ransome Scholarship.

She is a rising senior double majoring in Political Science with a Pre-Law concentration and African American and African Diaspora Studies. She is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She works on campus as a Spartan Guide as well as in the Chancellor’s Office. And is a member of the National Honor Society Alpha Lambda Delta. 
 
 

The Whitney “Whitty” Ransome Scholarship in African American Studies was established in Fall 2013 The scholarship provides a merit scholarship to full-time undergraduate African American Studies majors, with exemplary academic performance in the African American Studies Program. Awards are made on the basis of past academic performance, an essay that explains what inspired the applicant to choose African American Studies as a major; describes the impact the African American Studies Program has had on the applicant’s education, and outlines the applicant’s future academic plans.
