Bachelor of Arts (BA)
The AADS Major prepares students for leadership, teaching, and community engagement, and it is an excellent foundation for graduate and professional study. AADS is committed to offering its majors an academically challenging curriculum based on the strong foundation of a liberal arts education.
Students may take courses in 11 different disciplines to complete their degree, including art, anthropology, dance, English, history, music, philosophy, political science, religion, sociology, and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies.
Students may opt to complete an enhanced major by completing Disciplinary Honors in African American and African Diaspora Studies.

Concentration in Black popular Culture
The Black Popular Culture concentration within the African American and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) program is for students interested in developing their knowledge of African American performance, art, film, and music.
Students who pursue this concentration will enhance their understanding of the intersections between African American and African Diaspora cultures, history, politics, gender, and artistic expression.
